Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Martin Sheen To Launch The Manny Pacquiao Foundation

At Exclusive VIP Reception & Dinner in Beverly Hills, CA

The Ultimate “Manny-Money Match

Los Angeles, CA— Perhaps no other living person embodies raw physical power and sophisticated diplomacy inside and outside the boxing ring as well as Mr. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. The “Pacman” is the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world with an unprecedented eight world titles in eight different weight divisions. When Mr. Pacquiao is not delivering power-packed punches in the ring, he is the Honorable Emmanuel D. Pacquiao, a public servant representing the legislative district of Sarangani in the Philippine House of Representatives. The “fighting congressman from Sarangani” uses intellect, persuasion and charisma to forge alliances and create laws which will change the future of the 12th most populous country in the world. But Mr. Pacquiao is more than a boxer and a politician. He is also Chairman of the Board of The Manny Pacquiao Foundation (, a US-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity organized and operated exclusively to foster, support and transform the health, education and overall social well-being of disadvantaged communities in the Philippines and local Fil-Am communities. The Foundation derives its inspiration from the real-life stories of its own board directors and officers, each accomplished professionals in the medical, educational, arts and nonprofit sectors. With his charitable arm up and running, Mr. Pacquiao will likely add one more title under his belt before year-end, “World Champion Boxer. Politician. Humanitarian.”

The Foundation is embarking on a 2-year fundraising to support individuals and organizations engaged in charitable work in the Philippines focusing on health care, education and sports. The fundraising campaign, themed “Poverty In Paradise”, will kick off with an exclusive VIP Reception and Dinner on November 14, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Mr. Pacquiao will be joined by a select group of local businessmen and philanthropists. Every donation raised by the Foundation goes to feed and educate people in need of assistance in the Philippines and local Fil-Am communities in the United States and to create economic opportunity for those most vulnerable to terrorism such as the poverty-stricken areas of Sarangani. The Foundation will also recognize longtime community partner and donor, The SF Giants.

Mr. Martin Sheen, currently Special Envoy to Front Line International Foundation for Protection of Human Rights Defenders, will imbue the Event with his dynamic presence as master of ceremonies. No stranger to politics, Mr. Sheen captured audiences worldwide in his seven-year run as President Bartlett in the NBC multi-awarded series, “The West Wing”. He is currently starring in the feature film “The Way” (, written and directed by his son, Emilio Estevez, and the forthcoming films, “Stella Days”, an independent Irish film, and “The Amazing Spiderman”.

Mr. Pacquiao’s personal commitment to the Foundation’s inaugural fundraising campaign is irrefutable. Sarangani is his birthplace. Manny will match dollar-for-dollar every donation and pledge made at the November 14 event to fund Foundation programs that aim to improve the lives of his constituents and fellow Filipinos. Already referred to as the ultimate “Manny Money-Match”, it is truly an important commitment for Mr. Pacquiao who will be just two days fresh from the Pacquiao v. Marquez boxing match in Las Vegas. For those who know Manny Pacquiao, it all makes sense. Charitable work is closest to Manny’s heart. And as the saying goes, “Charity always begins at home.

Our History

The Foundation was created by Mr. Pacquiao to harness the goodwill of his kababayans, fans and supporters in the US and support philanthropic endeavors in the following areas: health, education and social well-being. It was incorporated as a California nonprofit public benefit corporation in December 2008. The Foundation currently has West Coast offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Expansion plans for the Midwest and East Coast are underway in response to overwhelming public interest in the Foundation’s charitable work from various groups across the country. The Foundation Operating Board meets once a month in Los Angeles and visit program recipients in the Philippines annually.

Our core program areas are designed to help donors reach communities in the Philippines and local Fil-Am communities in the United States through specific initiatives in healthcare and education that aim to break the chain of poverty binding families from one generation to the next. In addition, our special projects programs work with individuals and donors who wish to direct their charitable giving towards activities that promote social well-being among impoverished communities such as sports, arts and music. From strategizing national and regional giving programs to helping individual donors with personal visits to target communities in the Philippines and locally, we provide a wide range of philanthropic opportunities for donors to become actively involved in the philanthropic process.

Since 2009, we have benefitted from the support of well-established businesses and nonprofit institutions. Our Board of Directors includes business and philanthropy executives from the United States and the Philippines, and will continue to grow in size as the Foundation expands to seize the opportunities for global charitable work in target communities. With seed investments from SF Giants and GOT TOYOTA, the Foundation intends to increase its grant recipients and awards to targeted communities in the Philippines from a minimum of $10,000 to $500,000 per core program area for the first 5 years. The Foundation is reaching out to individuals, corporations, community foundations and institutions to forge partnerships in support of the Foundation’s core mission.

The Foundation endeavors to develop into a powerful global organization which can forge strong ties among key Filipino populations worldwide and provide a platform through which kababayans can support charitable programs in the Philippines and local Fil-Am neighborhoods focusing on healthcare and education. The Foundation’s long term goals include opening regional offices in Latin America, the Middle East and Western Europe to provide opportunities for donors in these regions to develop programs benefitting local communities.
